About Me

Professional in photography

My name is Rav Langotra, I was first introduced to photography at the age of 13 when I was given my first 35 mm film camera, and was much excited going out photographing anything and everything, until I realised that processing the photos cost a lot back in the day, fast forward a few years and welcome the digital age, where I purchased my first canon dslr, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel to many beautiful places around the world, and capture some amazing images.

On a cold November night in 2016 I decided to go to a dark skies site in Norfolk, my aim to shoot the Milky Way after seeing so many people imaging the night sky with various types of telescopes and equipment, I was mesmerised by all the stars on a clear night that was visible to the naked eye and the results these astrophotographers were producing. I decided to give it a go myself, and since then has never looked back. I have currently two setups one which is permanently on my pier in the observatory in the back yard where most of my imaging of deep sky objects are done.

Astrophotography can be quite challenging and very frustrating at times from living in a very light polluted city to equipment failing, software issues and results not quite what you expected. However, if you have a strong desire to keep going the results are more rewarding than you can ever imagine, and across my journey I have come to meet some fantastic people and amazing imagers who have helped me along the way to produce stunning images of what the night sky has to offer us.
