Friday 23rd April saw the club host a great show of Amateur Boxing. Heartlands Hobsmoat ABA club organised a series of 14 bouts in various age groups, featuring their own home-grown talent against challengers from other local clubs. It was a great chance for the various amateur clubs to show the wider community what they are about.
A packed crowd settled down in the concert room, around an impressive Boxing ring. Right on cue at 8:30, our Master of Ceremonies introduced the first bout. Each fight was held over 3 rounds of 1½ minutes, or longer for the older boxers.
Various sections of the crowd cheered on their favourites and the judges submitted their scores at the end of the bout. Backstage, the other competitors readied themselves, with the weigh-in. Other competitors were seen warming up around the club.
Boxers' safety was paramount and there were ABA officials and doctors in attendance at the club at all times.
All in all, a great night at the Tyseley. We look forward to another Boxing show later in the year. Thanks go to Heartlands Hobsmoat ABA for putting on such a fantastic show.
